In 1992 Mike returned to the family business, Remy Battery Co., Inc., and now has a shared ownership in the company and is acting President for Remy Battery. Mike has been involved with BESA since 1999 and has acted as the organization’s Secretary/Treasurer since the organization’s inception in 1999.
Mark Carroll | Secretary
Mark Carroll’s journey in the battery industry began at 18 when, after leaving his adoptive family, he needed to earn a living. Fortunately, at 19, he was hired to label batteries and handle the “dirty” work in a battery company. Despite his dedication and efforts to grow the company regionally, he was let go after 10 years as the company changed hands multiple times.
However, Mark’s connection to the battery industry was far from over. His customers demanded his return, and in 2008, one customer encouraged him to start his own battery business and supported him throughout the process. Since then, Mark has become the president, chairman, and co-owner of five battery companies. He now operates eight stores and ten buildings across three provinces.
Mark’s story is a testament to what hard work in the battery industry can achieve. Outside of work, his son, wife, and dogs are his greatest joys.

Jim Murray Jr. | Board Member at Large
Jim Murray grew up in the battery business and fondly recalls helping his father the day Mickey Mantle retired. So it was no great surprise that after college, Scranton University class of ’85 and a brief stint in the re-insurance marketplace, that the siren song of lead & acid called him back into the family battery business. Since rejoining Electro in 1987, not long after its humble rented 40′ container beginnings in 1981 when Electro would only sell car batteries, he has seen it grown to one of the largest family owned independent battery distributors with 4 locations in the NY/NJ/PA area. Today, Electro, one of BESA’s founding 13, is selling multiple battery chemistries across multiple markets.
Jim lives in northern New Jersey with his wife Carolyn and their three children.
Will Cave | Board Member at Large

He is the 3rd generation to run the family business which started in 1980.
Will’s hobbies include chess, martial arts, hiking, and theology. Most of his free time is spent with family and serving in his local church in various roles. Will resides in Hanover, Pennsylvania with his wife, Lauren, and two children.
